The Story Behind It

Life will give it’s up and down but when we are driven by passion we will stay on path. But is it hobby or passion ? Do you want to leave it to time to find out or you will like unravel it with me?

By BHOOMI DIWA

Recently I was having a conversation with my dear friend and somehow during the conversation, we were talking about another common friend, let’s call him alpha. Deep down I realized our friend alpha was just pursuing his hobby he may be good at it but that was not his passion. There is a very thin line between hobby and passion because both are the same activities but there is a critical difference. And many of us confuse a lot.  I thought to it’s high time to uncover what’s the difference between both? How we can develop both? And why is each required?

A hobby is what you do when you are bored or what to do to kill your time.  A hobby is anything you do for relaxation apart from your daily work. While passion is what you can’t live without irrespective of the workload and things going around in your world. Passion is not relaxing but what you love and you have a feeling of devotion.

Everything in the world can’t be bought but not passion.

“You can’t fake passion.” ~Barbara Corcoran

Does that mean we are born with passion? We can acquire it? Not really. Hobbies can also turn into a passion over time but the underlining difference is a mere hobby will not give you determination and drive to move forward ahead despite all challenges. Assume if you are pursuing the hobby of blogging, you will write few blogs here and there but when work pressure comes and when you have a bad day you will easily give up. A passionate human is more lethal than an atomic bomb. The passionate individual will find ways amidst all chaos. These make good entrepreneurs. Some passionate people have fought many terminally diseases and they forward to live life to fullest

“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

You don’t find your passion but passion helps you let lose in something you enjoy and find your potential in the process. But the finding passion is the toughest job that many people struggle to find and feel lost and consistency and perseverance in their hobbies. Sometimes we might be breathing, eating and drinking our passion without even realizing it. If you have to visualize it consider passion to be oxygen which you can’t see but it makes you do things and is the first form of energy that our body uses.

So let’s uncover how we can find the passion. List down the things you spend your day doing. What is the most frequent thing that you keep repeating and are willing to sacrifice time, money and energy? What is the one thing that drives you to look forward to? What is the one thing that gives you peace? Once you start to list down everything and one thing that ticks all the boxes will help you find your passion.

“You have to be burning with an idea, or a problem, or a wrong that you want to right. If you’re not passionate enough from the start, you’ll never stick it out.” ~ Steve Jobs

Hope this helps you live your life to your true potential. All the best !!!
